Day Training for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities
St. Mary's Center

Picture

St. Mary’s Center, a non-denominational agency, serves over 150 adults and teens with intellectual disabilities from the Louisville Metro area.  We are in our 19th year of providing vocational, functional, academic and socialization training.  In addition, we teach lifetime leisure skills and a vast array of sports activities.  These person-centered programs and services enable our participants to become more independent and fully functioning members of our community.

It is heartwarming to see our student’s smiles after they’ve reached a goal, or watch them celebrate not only personal victories but those of long time friends. It’s gratifying to see their determination and grit to strive to
be the best person they can be.

St. Mary’s Center is not affiliated with any religious agency.  To maintain our high standard of quality, the Center relies strictly on the generosity of the community, donations and the support of fundraisers.

Students are never turned away because of an inability to pay.  We accept students on Medicaid waivers including SCL (Supports for Community Living) program and Michelle P wavier.  Private pay is also accepted.

If you would like to tour our facility, please call us 254-7298.

8th Annual Swashbucklers Ball - January 19, 2013

Picture
The 8th annual Swashbucklers Ball was held Saturday, January 19th.  This magical evening
of fun is the signature fund-raising event for St. Mary’s Center. The party included dinner, live music by Velvet Soul, dancing and an opportunity to win exciting prizes .

Thanks to Jesse Mudd and Teresa Neuman who co-chaired the festivities to support our much-loved friends and family members at St. Mary's Center.  The evening raised over $40,000 and the funds will be used to support services at the Center such as creating a new garden, art program and new technology opportunities for our participants.

The Swashbucklers Ball is all about pirates and this year we added a new twist.  In addition to the pirate theme, our celebration also included Parrot Heads.  As you can see from the pictures our guests created wonderful costumes and everyone enjoyed a Carribean evening of fun..

A special thank you to our emcee, Karen Roby; auctioneer, J.P. Lyning: and graphic designer, Mary Ann Bowman.
.

All proceeds from the 2013 Swashbucklers Ball  benefit St. Mary’s Center.  Come join the fun in 2014 and support the 150 participants at our Center.

We are ordering a perfect day of weather and anticipating over two hundred supporters and St. Mary's participants for the 17th Annual Golf Outing, Rock Drop and lunch…what a fabulous day it will be for St. Mary’s Center.

Participants At Our 2012 Golfing Outing
We offer morning and afternoon tee times, award prizes and serve Dairy Queen's BBQ sandwiches and "fixings” at noon for all of our golfing friends, staff and participants.   The lunch is generously sponsored by Bill Bond and the Middletown Dairy Queen.

The fun and excitement of our Rock Drop takes place at 1:00 p.m. in the fairway of the 9th hole. This is a fundraising event where golf ball “rocks” are dropped from a helicopter.  Chances are sold for $100 to buy a rock (numbered golf ball).  If your rock goes in the hole and stays in the hole,
you win $12,000.  If a rock does not drop in the golf hole, closest to the
hole wins $10,000.   The Rock Drop is sponsored by the Kentucky Crushed Stone Association.

Our good friend, Jeff Baker flies the Raven helicopter for us and gives  our media honorary chairperson a ride over fairway #9.  Golf ball "rocks" are dropped from a bucket in the helicopter and the rock that lands closest to the hole wins. Last year the Schuckmann family won the $10,000 closest to the hole prize.

If you would like to join the fun by playing in the golf outing, buying a rock, participating in the raffles or volunteering to help, please contact Ann Hurst, Director of Development at 244-0082 or ann@saintmaryscenter.org.  We would love for you to be our next $10,000 winner!
